Proposed changes to the rules for Non-UK Domiciled Persons

HMRC has just published proposed legislation for the reform of the tax treatment of non-UK domiciled individuals. There is a consultation period until 9 September 2011.

The new proposed rules aim to balance an increase to the tax paid by non-UK individuals who have been resident in the UK for some time against stimulating inward investment by such individuals into the UK economy.

It is envisaged that the new rules will become law from 6 April 2012.

If you would think the new rules could affect you and you would like to see an outline of the detail, please call me and I can send you a PDF doucment which has been prepared by a fomer firm of mine, Rawlinson & Hunter.
